A question for parents
Sits with homework for 10 minutes, then the focus is gone?
Bright and curious, but gives up the moment something gets hard?
Hours disappear into screens — and you wish that energy went somewhere useful?
Hates losing — a small setback ruins the whole evening?
Answers before thinking, then regrets it?
Has a disability — and most activities were never designed for them?
These are not behaviour problems. They are thinking habits — and thinking habits can be trained. Chess trains them quietly, move by move, in a game children actually enjoy.
Why chess
A game demands full attention for 30–45 minutes — focus becomes practice, not a lecture.
Every move has a consequence. Children learn to pause, plan and then decide — a habit that shows up in studies and life.
Losses are reviewed, not feared. Emotional resilience is built game by game — the skill most classrooms never teach.
Online chess turns screen time into brain time — strategy, puzzles and real opponents instead of endless scrolling.
Ratings, tournaments and small victories give children proof of their own ability — confidence they carry everywhere.
On a chessboard, disability disappears. Wheelchairs, speech differences, pace — none of it matters. Only the mind plays.

Meet the founder
I am Pratik Patil, and I founded Enableminds to turn everything chess taught me into a methodology other minds can use. I am a FIDE-rated player and a top-10 All India finisher at the Para Nationals, and I play with Cerebral Palsy — so I know exactly how it feels to be underestimated at the board, and how much steadier a person becomes once their thinking has structure. I also hold a Master’s in Counseling Psychology, which is why Enableminds does not teach openings in isolation: every session works on how a student processes pressure, mistakes and long games.
The initiative’s methodology is driven by continuous pedagogical training and psychology-backed strategies that help students process challenges and hold concentration when it matters most.
Credentials
Lived experience with Cerebral Palsy is part of the teaching, not a footnote — accessible learning without limits or assumptions.
